Aid to the Church in Need
Charity for oppressed believers
Aid to the Church in Need was founded in 1947 by Werenfried van Straaten, Norbertine of the abbey of Tongerlo. This so-called Bacon Priest started a campaign to address the material and spiritual needs of the war victims of WWII. This action would evolve into an international Catholic relief organisation.
Today, Aid to the Church in Need supports believers worldwide, through information, prayer and action. The organisation can be found wherever people are persecuted, oppressed or in need.
National Secretariat
Today, Aid to the Church in Need has 23 national secretariats spread across Europe, North and South America, Asia and Australia. The Belgian office is located in Park Abbey.
