More information about the activities

Threading landscapes exhibition

What makes a place what it is? In Weaving Landscapes, 24 contemporary artists take you on a journey in search of the genius loci — the spirit of place — of Park Abbey.

Admission to the exhibition is free during the opening weekend.

Performances

Hana Miletić — new work

Artist Hana Miletić has created a polyphonic composition inspired by the historic choir and songbooks of the Premonstratensian nuns of Gempe. During the opening weekend, you can attend the unveiling of this new work with singer Amina Szecsödy.

Ana María Caballero — Concerning Unknown Women (2026)

American-Colombian artist Ana María Caballero works at the intersection of poetry, performance, moving image and conceptual installations. For Park Abbey, she created Concerning Unknown Women (2026), a new work rooted in the abbey’s historic archives.

The result is a new body of poetry, which the artist herself will perform during the opening weekend.

María Angélica Medina — Pieza de conversación

Since the 1970s, Colombian artist María Angélica Medina has been continuously knitting one and the same artwork. During the opening weekend, she will continue working on it. At the same time, she invites visitors to sit beside her and engage in conversation.

In this way, Pieza de conversación grows not only as a work of art, but also as a living space for exchange and connection.

Workshop for families

Take a seat at the Koko Kollectief Table and join us in embroidering the landscape of our dreams. Starting from an engraving of Park Abbey, we draw inspiration from our surroundings and from one another. What might a landscape look like when we create it together?

Come and embroider, sew or collage on a large artistic tablecloth. Throughout the opening weekend, this will grow into a collective work of art in progress.

Musical programme

Musa Horti

The resident ensemble Musa Horti presents a series of concerts featuring a repertoire specially curated around the themes of Threading Landscapes.

Peace Carillon

The Peace Carillon also contributes to the musical programme, with compositions written by participating artists.

Singing Molenbeek

The children's and youth choir Singing Molenbeek moves through the spaces of PARCUM Museum.

During this musical journey, visitors discover choral pieces that reflect the many cultural voices and stories brought together in the exhibition.

Restoration experts

The architects who worked on the restoration for 15 years will share insights into the restoration campaign and the discoveries made in the monastery. They will be present at various locations throughout the abbey, providing information throughout the day.

Foyer

In the atmospheric Tithe Barn, we are opening a temporary pop-up foyer where meeting and connection take centre stage.

Visitors can enjoy an abbey beer specially brewed for the occasion by Braxatorium Parcensis Abbey Brewery, as well as a tasty bite from De Wikke, an organic horticultural project where people who face barriers to the regular labour market grow organic and often forgotten vegetables together.
